A CAR careered off a road and through a car park before crashing into a residential garage.

The incident happened in Hawthorn Road, Bognor, on Saturday evening, June 18, at around 11.30pm.

The car came off the road, through the Maywood Health Centre car park before smashing into the wall of a house neighbouring the pharmacist shop.

The driver was uninjured and was able to get out freely.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) cut off the gas and electricity supply before letting Sussex Police deal with the incident.

A WSFRS spokeswoman said: "At 11.30pm on Saturday night, June 18, we responded to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle and a property at Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis.

"Joint Fire Control sent one fire engine from Bognor Regis to the scene.

"On arrival crews found that one car had struck a garage. However, no persons were trapped or injured as a result of the collision.

"Firefighters isolated the gas and electricity supply in the building and then left the incident in the care of Sussex Police."

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police were called after a car collided with Maywood Healthcare Centre in Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis, about 11.25pm on Saturday, June 18.

"The driver – a local man in his 30s – was located at his home address the following day and was confirmed to be safe.

"The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

"Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting serial 1622 of 18/06."
