A WOMAN who was found dead in a city park has been named.
Samantha Casey, 43, was formally identified at an inquest opening today after her body was found at Queen's Park in Brighton on Friday, June 17.
Ms Casey lived in Brighton and attended Varndean College to study theatre as a teenager.
Emergency services were called after she was found unconscious by the clock tower. Ms Casey was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10pm.
Photos at the scene showed scenes of crime officers (SOCO) investigating the area.
Nick Childs, Labour councillor for Queen’s Park, said he would be looking to get "further details and assurances" from authorities along with fellow councillor, Amanda Evans.
The provisional cause of Ms Casey’s death remains unclear, despite a post mortem being carried out this week.
Police are still investigating and have asked anyone with any information to come forward.
On Sunday, Detective chief inspector Andy Wolstenhome said: “This has been a fast moving investigation involving colleagues from across the force while we worked to discover the circumstances around this sad death.
“We are keen to trace her last movements and would like to hear from anyone who may have been in Queens Park on Friday, June 17 and has any information about this incident. Please contact us.”
The official inquest into Ms Casey's death will open on March 1, 2023.
