A MAN has been ordered to pay compensation of £225 after assaulting two hospital security guards.
Paul Hopton, 50, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting Jay Warren and Charlie Rogers at Conquest Hospital, St Leonards, on May 20 last year.
He was ordered to pay Mr Warren £75 and Mr Rogers £150.
Hopton also pleaded guilty at Hastings magistrates’ court to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour at the hospital on the same day. The offence was deemed racially aggravated within the terms of section 28 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
He was also made subject to a rehabilitation order, which must be completed by June 21, 2023.
The assaults and threatening behaviour took place while he was subject to a conditional discharge order for an offence of theft. No action was taken on the breach.
