PEOPLE trapped in an overturned car following a crash were cut free by firefighters.

The incident happened yesterday in Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne shortly before 2.20pm.

Hydraulic equipment and an electric saw were used to free people from the overturned car.

Two people were treated at the scene for injuries but did not require a trip to hospital.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called around 2.20pm on Monday, June 27 to reports of a vehicle rolled over on Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne.

“Two people received treatment at the scene. 

A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said: “We were called at 2.24pm yesterday to attend an RTC on Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne.

“Crews from Eastbourne attended and assisted with the extrication of two people from one vehicle. 

“Crews used an electric saw and hydraulic equipment to free the passengers.

“They were handed over in to the care of SECAMB. We left the scene at 3.56pm”
