AN URGENT search is underway for a man missing from his houseboat.

John Bowra, who has dementia, was last seen leaving the boatyard in Newhaven at about 3.30pm on Friday, July 1.

Police said his disappearance is out of character, and he is not believed to be in possession of any bank cards or a mobile phone.

The 70-year-old was wearing a blue zip-up jumper and blue trousers.

He is white, about 5ft 4in, slim, with a bushy white beard and moustache.

A police spokesman said they are concerned for the “vulnerable” man.

“This is the last known sighting of John Bowra, who remains missing from Newhaven,” he said.

“The image was taken from Newhaven railway station, where he boarded the 5.03pm train bound for Brighton. We do not yet know where he alighted.

“We are continuing to search for him and conducting enquiries to determine where he could be.
