POLICE are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl.

Officers have increased their presence in the area in Eastbourne following the assault.

The offence is believed to have happened in a wooded area just off Cherry Gardens Road shortly after 5pm on Friday, June 10.

Inspector Rachel Barrow said detectives are continuing to investigate.

"Residents will have noticed an increased police presence in the area and an active investigation is continuing,” she said.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident for the area, we have had no similar reports recently."

Inspector Barrow said officers are searching for two men.

One is 5ft 8in, in his late 30s and slim. He is believed to have pale skin, dark wavy short brown hair and green eyes.

He was wearing loose grey shorts, a black hoodie which could have been Nike, black trainers and a black COVID face mask.

The other man is 6ft, in his late 30s, bald and with warm toned skin.

He was wearing black jeans, a black zip up hoodie, black Nike trainers and a black COVID face mask.

The victim has also been receiving support from specially trained officers.
