THOUSANDS could be seen basking in the sun and enjoying a samba event as temperatures hit 24C in the city.
Umbrellas were out, along with paddleboards and plenty of sun cream was in use as people flocked to Brighton beach.
It comes as a level three heatwave warning was issued by The Met Office for much of the south east, including Brighton.
The Beleza School of Samba was also on show on the seafront today with music and dancing.
According to the UK’s national weather service: “Heatwave criteria will be met in some areas in southern and central England and Wales.
“The highest temperatures could reach 33°C on Tuesday, although temperatures will also be widely above average this weekend and through next week.”
Temperatures drop to around 21C in Brighton tomorrow, but next week is predicted to be at least 25C every day until Friday.
The RNLI has also issued a reminder to stay safe near the water.
Sam Hughes, national water safety partner at the RNLI, said: “It is great to hear that the sun is on its way but we want to remind everyone to stay safe at the coast.
"If you are planning on going to the beach we would encourage you to visit a lifeguarded beach and swim between the red and yellow flags.”
