A GROUP of children have been reportedly threatened by a man armed with a knife in a park.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Hove Park, Hove, which happened at about 6pm on Sunday, July 10.
Officers attended the scene after a report of a group of children having been threatened by a man with a knife.
A spokesman said: "Around 6pm on Sunday (July 10) police received a report that a group of children had been threatened with a knife by a man in Hove Park, Hove.
“The man was not located."
“Investigating officers ensured the safety and wellbeing of the children involved, while also liaising with their family, to provide additional reassurance and support.”
The spokesman said they believe it is an “isolated incident”.
He added: “The public can expect to see heightened police presence in the area.”
The man is described as wearing a green and yellow t-shirt with black hair.
Anyone with information which could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to police online or call 101, quoting serial number 1023 of 10/07.
Earlier that week, police received another report of a man in possession of a knife in The Droveway, Hove on Wednesday, July 6.
“Investigating officers do not believe the incidents are linked, with police attending on both occasions and conducting an extensive search of the area, without trace,” a police spokesman said.
“Police do not believe there is a threat to the wider public.”
