A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a four car pile-up at the weekend.

Police initially released an appeal for witnesses to the crash on Old Shoreham Road, near the roundabout by the Amsterdam Inn pub, Shoreham on Saturday, July 9.

The force has now confirmed to The Argus that a man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a class A drug and has been released under investigation.

Four people have been taken to hospital with injuries varying from minor to serious, but none life threatening.

A Sussex Police spokesman told The Argus: “Just before 5pm on Saturday, July 9, police responded to a four-car collision in Old Shoreham Road, Shoreham.

“Four people were taken to hospital with injuries varying from minor to serious, but non-life threatening.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information which could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting serial number 1037 of 09/07. “One “A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a Class A drug and has been released under investigation.”
