AN OFFICE worker who quit his job to go on adventures has completed a nine hour paddleboarding trip to the windfarm.

On Monday, Jude Somers, 23, took on his latest challenge of paddleboarding to the Rampion wind farm off the Sussex coast.

He took off from Worthing and embarked on the nine hour journey to the wind turbines armed with a duffel bag of supplies.

The incredible footage published on TikTok shows him paddling out around ten miles there and back to reach the 72 square kilometre wind farm which spreads from Worthing to Brighton.

Jude told The Argus: “I think it took around eight and half to nine hours, and out of that time I spent around eight hours just paddling because I needed to come back on the in-tide.

The Argus:

“I haven’t gone that far out before, I’ve always wanted to go out to the wind farm but I haven’t been able to because of the weather or sea conditions.”

“I had prepared as much as I could. When you’re out there it’s a bit overwhelming with these massive building-like structures.

“It was totally sunny skies that day and when you’re out there the sun is bouncing back at you, the sea is like a huge mirror.”

The first part of his video was published on TikTok and within one day he had received over two million views and 227.8k likes.

Jude is no stranger to exploring the sea and swims every day, as well as taking out his board for hours at a time.

He said: “It is tiring, I don’t want to say it was easy because it wasn’t but because I’ve done paddleboarding a lot I guess my muscles are used to it.

“In terms of that trip, the four hours out weren’t too bad, but I really felt it on the way back. To keep tensing your core, your abs, for nine hours is really hard work.

“I got a lot of comments saying I would be so bored if I did this and your mind does definitely wander, it is a bit of a mental game to keep going.

The Argus:

“I probably wouldn’t do it again, that’s not to say I wouldn’t do something like that again - it’s pretty much just moving on to the next big challenge now."

Jude has published hundreds of videos within the last seven months showing his experiences, including winter swimming and walking barefoot for ten days.

He said: “Back in winter when I was swimming in the sea, it was for my own happiness really.

The Argus:

“People in my life were surprised that I was doing it and wanted to know more, so I thought it would be a good thing to put on TikTok.

“I get a lot of comments from people saying that I’ve motivated them and inspired them, I love seeing comments like that.”

Jude added: “I left my job so that I could do this.

“I’ve always wanted to do something to do with YouTube or TikTok, and it seems to be going really well and people seem to enjoy it - I’m having a lot of fun.”
