BRIGHTON Gin is releasing limited edition bottles for Pride.

The Artist’s Edition Pride bottles, which go on sale this summer, have artwork by Dave Pop!

Gin lovers can collect two distinct designs on 700ml Pavilion Strength bottles, every one numbered and signed by the artist.

Dave Pop! is a Brighton-based artist specialising in bright, bold pop art.

The former chocolatier held his first solo show, Wonderful Darling, at the Brush Gallery, Brighton.

He has exhibited at the Theatre Royal and Palace Pier and is inspired by pop art stars Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Jeff Koons.

Dave is inspired by Brighton’s cheeky seafront and bright lights and uses vintage fairground style art and carousel horses in his work.

He has created a large-scale mural at the station to greet visitors and his unique style can be seen around town.

“I chose mer-people for my Pride label design because they are perfect for my saucy seaside style of art, and also there are tattoo parlours on every corner in Brighton,” said Dave.

“The tagline ‘Cheers Queers’ was an obvious choice to celebrate the wonderful diversity of Pride.”

Each year Brighton Gin collaborates with an LGBTQ+ artist to platform their work and raise money for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, the Brighton and Hove based grant-giving fund for local LGBTQ+ and HIV/Aids organisations.

Ten per cent of the proceeds from each bottle will be donated to the Rainbow Fund.

Released as an initial run of 500 bottles in each design and individually signed and numbered by the artist, every bottle is a unique artwork in miniature.

Kathy Caton, founder of Brighton Gin, said; “I am blown away by Dave Pop’s work.

“These bottles encapsulate the spirit of Brighton and everything that we stand for and love about this city.

“After several years of cancelled Prides because of the pandemic, I love the celebratory quality of his design and his fabulous ‘Cheers Queers’ tagline.

“We’re very proud of our track record in giving back to our community and are delighted to again be supporting the Rainbow Fund by raising crucial funds to support grassroots LGBTQ+ organisations in our city.

“Dave Pop! Artist’s Edition Pride Limited release bottles feature on Brighton Gin 40% Pavilion Strength, our original hand-made craft British gin.

“Super-smooth, clear and bright in the glass, the subtle notes of juniper and persistent hints of orange make this gin gentle and approachable.

“Brighton Gin is the UK’s first vegan certified gin. It’s handmade in Brighton by a small team aiming to contribute positively to their community and build an ethical global brand.”

The limited edition bottles are available from independent shops across Sussex and online.
