A HIT crime drama will resume filming in the city later this year, as a Peter James’ best-selling books are brought to life.

Series three of ITV’s Grace is to begin filming in August and will pick up the story of Brighton detective Roy Grace, played by John Simm.

The new season is based on three books by Brighton author Peter: Dead Like You, Dead Man’s Grip and Not Yet Dead.

The Argus will continue to feature in the show, as it has in previous seasons.

Dead Man’s Grip explores how fictional journalist Kevin Spinella obtains information from Roy Grace's calls and messages via hacking.

In another episode, Roy will wonder how Spinella is getting such accurate information and will confront him, but Spinella attributes this purely to his sound journalistic instincts.

The show is shot across many famous landmarks in Brighton and Hove, including Devil’s Dyke, which was renamed Hob’s Dyke for the series for legal reasons.

However, Peter said he was “determined” to have a real-life paper featured in the series and insisted The Argus kept its name.

“I was determined that we would not have a fictitious paper and I know that everyone at The Argus would be much happier if we had its actual name,” said Peter.

“I’m determined to make The Argus the most famous newspaper in the world.”

Peter recently got stuck in with researching a character for a new book by working as a concierge at The Grand in Brighton.

Guests arriving at the hotel on Brighton seafront on May 30 could hardly believe their eyes when they were greeted by the author.

Peter, in full Grand uniform of checked trousers, navy jacket and yellow tie, carried their luggage and helped them through the famous rotating doorway.

“I want a character that disappears, and a concierge here reckons that the guy has been staying here, incognito, for several months on and off,” he said.

“So, I wanted to know how much they would see. They don’t miss much.

“I’ve been through all the tasks: recommending places, lugging bags, parking cars – well, I’ve been opening the garage doors, I don’t think I’m insured for the driving.”
