It comes just days after a group of travellers were moved on by police from Preston Park and around three years after another group were ordered to leave from Hove Lawns after an eviction order was issued.

Earlier this week, Brighton and Hove City Councillor Dawn Barnett called on the council to do more to address the issue of caravans illegally parking in the city’s public parks.

Cllr Barnett said: “The council has a soft touch. They say Brighton and Hove is a City of Sanctuary - but who for? Certainly not the residents.”

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
