BRIGHTON has been named among the top STI hotspots in England.
New research by online medical site Mars narrowed down which places in the country have the highest number of sexually transmitted infections.
Following 317,901 new STI diagnoses during 2020, Mars experts looked at the sexual and reproductive health profiles of every local authority in England.
It then looked at the diagnostic rates per 100,000 for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, genital warts and genital herpes to find the places where people are most at risk from contracting an STI.
It marked places out of ten, with a score closer to ten having the highest risk.
Brighton and Hove ranked 13th out of the top 20 with a score of 9.47 and Crawley ranked 20th with a score of 9.01.
Lambeth came first with a score of 9.99, followed by Southwark with 9.94 and Hammersmith with 9.94.
The research found Mid Sussex has the lowest number of cases of chlamydia in the country, with 67 cases per 100,000 during 2020.
