A STANDALONE barristers' chambers has celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Westgate Chambers marked the milestone with an event Brighton's Royal Pavilion.

Members of chambers, which is in Pavilion Parade, Brighton, and their clerking team were joined by judges, solicitors and other local dignitaries to celebrate Westgate’s history but also the life of their founder, John Collins.

Addressing the guests, head of chambers Richard Barton said: “Westgate is a home for everyone no matter what your race, sexual orientation, or religion.

“We welcome everyone and support diversity. This was our founder John Collins’ message and it stands true to this day.

“Westgate Chambers continues to grow, and we look forward with excitement to serving the legal community and the people of the South Coast for the next 35 years.”

The event brought together a host of local and national law firms and at the end of the evening senior clerk Sean Gould said: “It was lovely to have so many of our new and existing valued clients here with our members and our team of clerks to celebrate such a momentous milestone.

“While it would have been fantastic to have our founder John Collins with us too, it was fitting that his daughter, family lawyer Aisling Collins, was able to join us so our guests could show their appreciation for what her father had achieved.”
