A PUPPY rescued by the RSPCA can finally see again after he was given a facelift.

The 18-month-old shar pei arrived at the RSPCA Sussex, Brighton and East Grinstead branch in Patcham completely bald, with extremely sore skin on his back and infected eyes.

Reggie’s vision was poor and he needed constant eye treatment.

He was living in unsuitable conditions and was signed over to the animal charity to be cared for.

Following critical surgery to reduce the excess skin covering his face, Reggie has recovered and is ready to be re-homed.

Lauren Pearce, deputy head of dogs at RSPCA Sussex, Brighton and East Grinstead, said: “Sadly Reggie’s breed is prone to having problems due to their extra skin but with the treatment he’s had, we hope that this will help prevent further skin problems in the future.”

His surgery cost almost £2,000, which was funded by the RSPCA branch.

Lauren added: “Reggie is such a sweetheart, and so friendly and loves everyone.

"We’d like him to live in an adult-only home as he isn’t used to children, and it would be great if he could live with more experienced owners.

“He’s a young dog so we hope the right person comes forward so he can get stuck into enjoying his new life.”

Reggie does not need any further medication or treatment.
