A HIT performer is currently playing a surprise outdoor show in the city.
American singer Kelis is with the Greggs bakery team at their one-day festival in Jubilee Square, Brighton, today, and the show started at 2pm.
The brand is celebrating the re-issue of its popular clothing line with Primark, as it launches the summer festival range, which includes Greggs-branded bucket hats, T-shirts and plastic clogs.
Kelis made the announcement via her Instagram shortly before the show.
In the post she said the surprise gig was to “celebrate Primark and Greggs’ collaboration, adding: “Don’t miss it.”
Kelis shot to fame in 2003 when her single Milkshake reached number two in the UK charts.
She will play at Y Not festival in Newhaven this weekend.
It comes as Primark and Greggs promote their new clothing line in a series of one-day festivals, Snackfest, across the country.
Brighton is the first date, with Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Liverpool set to follow in the coming days.
People are invited to have a go at “fishing for doughnuts” and a coconut shy based game where prizes can be won, while a DJ plays summer tunes from the top deck of a Greggs-themed bus.
Greggs clothes will be available to buy on site, too.
Jermaine Lapwood, head of innovation and future trends at Primark, said: “I believe the best partnerships in fashion are those that are blindingly obvious but never boring or predictable.
“In a world of collaborations, it is important that we stand out and be different.
“As part of this drop, for the first time in Primark history we are taking the collection on the road and fans will be able to get early access to our own ‘Snackfest’ tour bus which will pop up across the UK.
Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: “We’re excited to team up with Primark once again to deliver more fun and unique pieces that Greggs fans will wear with pride across the summer and beyond.”
