THE occupants of a jet ski and a boat that collided near Brighton Palace Pier knew each other, police have confirmed.

A woman was taken to hospital after the coastguard, RNLI, police and ambulance service attended the incident earlier this afternoon.

A coastguard helicopter was also seen circling along Brighton seafront, with a rescuer dropped down on a winch to help the woman, who was on the jet ski.

She was then taken to the marina by lifeboat and transferred to an ambulance to go to hospital.
