ARRANGING a lift home will no longer be an issue for wine-lovers as a new hop-on bus service launches that will stop at some of the county’s top vineyards.

The service from Great British Wine Tours will drop drinkers at wineries, vineyards and breweries in Sussex on Thursdays and Fridays until the end of the summer.

Sussex Wine Routes cover three stops: Ridgeview Winery in Ditchling Common, Artelium Vineyard in Streat near Ditchling, Court Garden Vineyard which is also in Ditchling, plus Bedlam Brewery near Ditchling Common.

Hannah Simpson-Banks, hospitality manager at Artelium Vineyard, said: “We are delighted to be collaborating on this hop-on, hop-off wine route, a first of its kind in the UK.

“Increasingly, vineyard guests have been expressing their desire for more sustainable ways to travel to us and greater accessibility to other vineyards and wineries across our stunning county.

"Sussex Wine Routes is a fantastic step in the right direction to providing a solution to these concerns.

“Thanks to a sustainable wine tourism grant from the South Downs National Park Authority, we now have the required funding to launch this exciting initiative."

Services will pick up and drop off from the Palace Pier, and railway stations in Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath. Tickets are £25.
