DOZENS of volunteers took part in a beach clean after Pride celebrations yesterday.

The clean-up, organised by Surfers Against Sewage and World Cetacean Alliance, took place from around 7am this morning until noon.

People who dedicated their time received a free wristband for the We Are Fabuloso festival in Preston Park this afternoon.

The beach clean saw two different sessions, one on Brighton Beach near Shelter Hall and further east on Kemp Town beach, just east of the Palace Pier.

A spokesman for the two charities said: “While Pride doesn't manage or organise events on the beach, we feel we all have a responsibility to keep our city clean, not just on Pride weekend but all year round.

“Our beaches are our city’s crowning glory and we are proud to have partnered with a number of other local community organisations to support and sponsor the second ‘Big Pride Beach Clean’ to be delivered by Surfers Against Sewage.

“We will be sorting, separating and recycling as much as we can and appreciate your help in doing this. City Clean are working with us to make sure recyclables are actually recycled.”
