Brighton act Bat for Lashes was left empty-handed tonight after she was pipped for two national music awards.
The singer, whose real name is Natasha Khan, was nominated in the British Female Solo Act and British Breakthrough Act categories of the Brit Awards.
But at the televised awards show today she lost out to Kate Nash for the British Female Solo Act award while Mika was handed the British Breakthrough Act gong.
The Brits, which were hosted by the Osbournes, saw the Foo Fighters win the awards for best international group and best international album.
Take That picked up the best British single and best British live act awards and Sir Paul McCartney won the Outstanding Contribution to Music award The Arctic Monkeys were named best British group and also took home the best British album award.
