EXTRAORDINARY footage of foxes appearing to “box” each other in a bid to get a tasty meal was captured on camera.

The two adult foxes can be heard making aggressive noises with their mouths open, ready to bite.

However, once the battle was over, both foxes retreated with neither enjoying the spoils.

The footage was captured by Brighton resident Steven Chapman, whose garden is visited by badgers and foxes every night.

His Ring camera, which captured video from his garden, shows a group of badgers, as well as four foxes, enjoying some food.

Steven, 59, said: “It was strange to see the foxes standing on their back legs fighting. I think they were fighting over food.

“I have had my Ring camera for about a year to make my property more secure and when I checked the footage, I saw that badgers and foxes were visiting my garden to drink from my pond.

“I started to put food out for them and now they come every night. I have had four badgers and four foxes visit at a time - the foxes are wary of the badgers and tend to keep their distance.”

Steven said seven badgers also visited his garden in one instance, including four adults and three cubs.

His garden backs on to a woodland area with farmland nearby, and his other frequent visitors include hedgehogs, bats and a variety of birds.

Steven said: “Not every human will treat them kindly but one night, when I had left my front door open, my son found a fox cub sitting indoors waiting to be fed.”

A spokeswoman for Ring said that the footage shows how the devices can be useful in making discoveries in gardens everywhere.

She said: “It’s great to see Steven’s garden has become such a haven for local wildlife and that, aside from the odd confrontation, the animals seem to get along quite happily.”
