A FIRE which started in a field may have been due to an electrical pylon short circuiting.
The blaze broke out in Hartfield Road in Forest Row, near Crawley, at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
Two fire engines and two Land Rovers from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended and put out the fire which was estimated to have affected almost four acres.
The fire service said it may have started "accidentally by an electrical pylon shorting".
UK Power Networks was in attendance.
The fire service spokeswoman added: “This is the latest in a series of calls about fires in the open in the past few days and the fire service is reminding everyone to stay alert to the dangers posed by the dry conditions.”
