Police have stepped up their search for a missing mother of two by talking to commuters at a train station.

Elaine Taggart has not been seen since she disappeared from her home in Ferring, near Worthing, last month.

The 48-year-old, who worked as a catering finance manager for Chartwells at Brighton College, was last seen on January 3.

Her red Fiat Punto was found in Goring Street, off Goring Way, near Goring railway station and five minutes from Mrs Taggart's home on January 4.

Today police officers handed out leaflets at Goring station in a bid to to jog people's memories.

Mrs Taggart is 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with dark brown hair.

Police and her family are concerned about her welfare and are urging anyone with information about her disappearance to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert, of Sussex Police's major crime branch, is leading the search for Mrs Taggart.

He said: "As the days and weeks go by, everyone is becoming increasingly concerned for her, as there is no trace of her anywhere since early January.

"If Mrs Taggart does not wish her family or friends to know where she is, then we will respect her wishes. But we do urgently need to know that she is safe and well."
