A tattooed man is wanted for questioning in connection with two armed robberies in Sussex.

Detectives want to speak to Liverpudlian Ian Dixon, also known as Mark, Dicko and Scouse Ian, after two cash delivery vans were held up in Brighton.

Police released this picture of the 39-year-old after he struck last week at a petrol station in Brentford.

Security company Loomis UK has offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to his conviction.

On April 4 last year he threatened a Securicor guard with what was believed to be a starting pistol as he delivered a cash box containing up to £40,000 to the Co-op in Old London Road, Patcham.

Gunshots were heard outside the shop.

He was wearing sunglasses and had a scarf wrapped around his face. A mechanic from a nearby garage chased him but he got away.

On November 15 he held up the Downsway BP service station in Ditchling Road, Brighton.

He threatened to stab one of two Securitas guards who were delivering cash to the garage with a five-inch lock-knife before making off in a silver hatchback Dixon is wanted by police in Sussex, Surrey, Merseyside and London.

He has a Liverpudlian accent and a tattoo of a shotgun and a skull on his right arm.

He has links to Blackpool and also the Tower Hamlets and Bermondsey areas of London.

Police received 15 calls after Dixon was briefly featured on Crimewatch on Wednesday night.

Detective Sergeant Mick Richards of Brighton CID said: "They were quite nasty attacks with a fair degree of violence used in each. It has left the security staff really quite shaken up.

"That is why we are so keen to catch him.

"We know who it is we want to speak to and we're doing everything we can.

"If anybody can give us any information, in the strictest confidence, we will do the rest."
