A BOMB squad was called to a beach after the discovery of a potentially “highly explosive” ordnance.

Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team was alerted after reports of an item found on Medmerry Beach, near Chichester, shortly before 1pm on Monday.

The crew confirmed it was ordnance and a further search of the beach uncovered more pieces.
