A MAN has been arrested after two people on a motorbike were left with life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash.

The crash happened yesterday afternoon around 1.45pm in Sedlescombe Road North in St Leonards, near the A21.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Two people, who were believed to be on the motorbike, remain in hospital with “serious, life-threatening or life-changing injuries”.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police responded to a serious collision between a motorcycle and van in Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended the scene. Two people who were riding the motorcycle were taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious, life-threatening or life-changing injuries, where they remain.

“A 41-year-old man has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Crash investigation work took place in the afternoon and went on into the evening.

Traffic was stretching back past Hastings Conquest Hospital and the Bannatyne Spa.
