TWIN sisters at a Sussex school have been celebrating after achieving a haul of A*s in their A-level results.

Victoria and Valeria Badham both achieved four A*s at independent Catholic day and boarding school Mayfield, as well as securing distinction in AEA maths and an Extended Project Qualification.

Both girls also were recipients of an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship and will be heading to Cambridge University to study natural sciences.

The pair from Crowborough are among ten per cent of students at the school going to Cambridge, with others securing places at universities across the country, including Edinburgh, Exeter and the Royal Northern College of Music.

Headmistress Antonia Beary said that the school was “immensely proud” of the achievements of their students for securing places at university.

She said: “At a time of uncertainty, they have shown a resilience and positive approach which has been rewarded by an impressive array of results.

“At a time when faith in young people is being questioned, I am confident that our Mayfield leavers are well prepared for the next stage in their journey, whether that be degree apprenticeship with the Metropolitan Police or natural sciences at Cambridge, studying everything from architecture to veterinary medicine throughout the UK and overseas.

“Not only have they confirmed that they can pass examinations, but more importantly, they know that they are part of an inclusive community providing a lifelong network of supportive friends and peers.

“They have the interpersonal skills and talents, not to mention the technical expertise honed over the lockdown and Covid years, to make the most of the opportunities ahead of them.”
