AN AUTHOR has announced the publication date of her latest historical novel, inspired by her grandmother’s life.

Jenny Ashcroft’s The Echoes of Love is set to hit the shelves on September 29.

Published by HQ, the novel focuses on a World War Two love story based on Jenny’s grandmother’s own experience of living in Greece during the Nazi occupation. 

Eleni has been going to Crete her entire life, swapping her English home for summers with her grandfather.

When she arrives in 1936, she believes the weeks ahead will be no different to the ones before.

But a young German man called Otto is visiting the island that year too. The two meet and fall in love before Eleni must return home.

When, in 1941, the island falls to a Nazi invasion, Eleni and Otto meet there once more. 

Eleni has returned to fight for her home, Otto to occupy it. They are enemies but will their relationship destroy them, or overcome the ravages of war?

Jenny, from Hove, is the author of several historical novels, including Beneath A Burning Sky and Island In The East. 

She previously spent much of her life living, working and exploring Australia and Asia, and now splits her time between Australia and the UK.
