Fire chiefs are investigating the possibility that a major fire at a rubbish depot was started deliberately.
Buildings at Hollingdean Recycling Plant, Brighton, including staff locker rooms, went up in flames at 8.40am on Saturday.
Substantial damage was caused by the blaze which fire crews managed to put out by 10.30am.
Four city fire crews attended the scene and a fire investigation officer is now investigating how the fire started.
Sussex police officers were stationed at the entrance to the depot which has recently been the scene of strike action.
Workers downed tools just over a week ago during a row with management.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a clearer understanding of how the fire started would be known on Saturday afternoon.
