FOUR Sussex piers have been named among the best places to enjoy the last of the summer sunshine.

A list compiled by the i newspaper includes Hastings Pier, Worthing Pier, Eastbourne Pier and the Palace Pier in Brighton.

The paper checked out the UK’s best seaside entertainment with amusement parks, pleasure beaches and traditional piers “packed with arcade games, fairground rides and fish and chips” to spend the final days of summer.

Eastbourne Pier was praised for being “one of the finest examples of a Victorian pier in the UK”, with a variety of shops, tea rooms, fishing spots and a classic British chippy.

Hastings Pier was said to be “loved by locals and tourists alike” for its Pavilion restaurant and beach hut-style food and drinks kiosks.

Less crowded than others, the “beautifully preserved” Worthing Pier was also included on the list for its modest amusement arcade and its Perch on the Pier restaurant.
