Every time I walk around Brighton, I notice the large number of young women with children under school age who sit languidly in coffee shops drinking expensive cappuccinos.
I'm curious - as a selfemployed person running a small business - how these ladies can afford to do this.
With the constraints of my business budget I certainly can't.
Perhaps they have rich husbands or the taxpayer is forking out so much in benefits that they don't need to work and can pass their time in such establishments.
However, I wonder, do they ever think of their future? It's been said that to fund a reasonable old-age pension you need to save £3 per day.
That's just a little above the cost of a posh cup of coffee, depending on where you buy it of course.
Surely this is food - or should that be espresso - for thought?
