RAIL services are disrupted for commuters this morning due to a broken down train.

Southern Rail warned that due to a problem at Lewes, train services towards Seaford and Eastbourne are disrupted and could be “cancelled or delayed”.

An update at around 7.15am confirmed the faulty train has been moved back into Lewes which is allowing access in both directions to Eastbourne and Seaford.

A Southern Rail spokeswoman said: “We're currently investigating a problem at Lewes, which is disrupting services towards Seaford and Eastbourne.

“A number of trains have already been affected, so please check your intended route before setting off.”

Southern Rail has been approached for further comment.
