A YOB who kicked a waitress at a city centre strip club was given a ride home by police after promising to go on an anger management course.

Officers were called to lap dancing club Grace in North Street, Brighton, after the man booted a female worker during a night out.

After being arrested by officers, handcuffed and put in the back of a police van, the man was given a lift home after vowing to go on a course to tackle his anger issues.

The incident was shown on Channel 4’s new show, Nightcoppers, which documents Brighton and Hove police officers tackling crime and disorder during the evening in the city and surrounding areas.

The Grace security guard tells police “We’ve had a male come in, he’s gone in the club. He kicked a female waitress.”

The man was then placed into handcuffs and searched for knives by officers.

“At the moment you’re being detained on suspicion of assault,” the officer said.

“Are you quite intoxicated mate, can you stand up okay,” she added.

The yob was led to the back of a police van in handcuffs where he was told he would be de-arrested.

He was then given a community resolution as he “showed remorse”.

The Sussex Police officer told him: “[This] would be for you to attend an anger management class because I think this incident has revolved around anger and I believe that would be the best way to deal with it.”

Officers then gave the man a lift home.

“That’s the life innit,” remarked one officer.

Chief Superintendent for Sussex Police Justin Burtenshaw told The Argus about how and when community resolutions are used.
