AN OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD mural of dogs in space has been stopping shoppers in their tracks.
A series of eye-catching paintings of space-invading dogs on the Dogs Trust charity shop in Kemp Town, Brighton have been built up over several months and now form a colourful wrap around the building.
The colourful spray paintings were done by street artist SprayCatz after the building’s landlord requested the designs for the shop in St James’s Street.
Shop manager Ragen Sherrington said the artwork had been drawing more people in and that she had not had any negative feedback so far.
“It looks really, really cool and we’re really happy with it,” she said.
“The reaction has been really positive.
“It’s a brilliant piece of artwork.”
Ms Sherrington said the first painting was done around three months ago and SprayCatz has built up the work over several weeks.
SprayCatz has done striking spray paintings for well-known groups including Extinction Rebellion in Brighton.
They also work on assignments from private clients and businesses.
“We got a say in how it looked,” said Ms Sherrington.
“The artist had an idea of what they wanted to do, and they used images of dogs from inside the shop and used that as a basis.
“We’ve had two added in the last couple of weeks around our windows.
“And then the other mural was done about three months ago.”
The Dog’s Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK.
The organisation helps rehabilitate and rehome dogs who have been abandoned or given up by their owners.
It also campaigns for the protection of dogs from maltreatment, cruelty and suffering.
