THE owner of a wizarding shop has said he was shocked to find out his store has been ranked the best in the city, according to TripAdvisor.

Oliver’s Brighton in Trafalgar Street, which boasts hundreds of different magical items, was listed as Brighton’s best shop based on reviews by visitors.

The store has over 800 five-star reviews on the platform, with customers praising the shop as “the most magical shopping experience”.

While not officially affiliated with the Harry Potter franchise or author JK Rowling, the “secret wizarding shop” does offer over 500 different items featured in the film series and books, including butterbeer, chocolate frogs and wands.

One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: “I have been here twice and I am currently planning my third trip.

“I love that all the wands are displayed and if something you’re looking for isn’t there, Oliver is more than happy to help and look to see if he has it behind the magic curtain for you.”

The Argus: Owner and founder Oliver Dall said he was 'truly honoured and thankful' to have his store ranked as the best shop in BrightonOwner and founder Oliver Dall said he was 'truly honoured and thankful' to have his store ranked as the best shop in Brighton

It comes as founder and owner Oliver Dall marks five years since he first got the keys to his shop, which has since won several awards.

He said: “A customer sent me a message telling me we are number one for shops in Brighton on TripAdvisor.

“I couldn’t believe it when I looked. I have worked so hard over the last five years; there’s been ups and downs and anyone who is self-employed will know how hard and stressful it can be at times, but I am truly honoured and thankful to anyone who has supported my shop and journey.”

Mr Dall has also recently announced plans to launch a magical spirit infused with gold.

The new beverage, called Wizard’s Gold, is an all-natural Madagascan vanilla spirit which promises to be “mouth-watering, golden and certainly not boring”.

The drink, which uses all-natural ingredients, is due to be released in the winter.
