Two men who "jumped" off Brighton Palace Pier at the weekend remain in hospital.

Police, ambulance crews and the RNLI all attended Brighton seafront on Sunday after the two men reportedly “jumped” off the pier into the sea.

Sussex Police confirmed today (August 30) that the men remain in hospital.

A police spokeswoman said: “Two men were taken to hospital having reportedly jumped into the sea from Brighton Palace Pier.

“Police were alerted to the incident about 6.55pm on Sunday, August 28.

“Officers supported emergency services partners at the scene, and the men were left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital where they remain.”

An eyewitness to the incident described the aftermath of the incident as like something out of a “horror movie”.

The witness told how paramedics performed CPR on one of the men for “30 minutes” while “a hundred” people watched on from the beach before it was closed off.

Onlookers feared one of the men had died due to the length of time he remained in the water.
