DIANA would not have been a “great fan” of Meghan Markle, the late princess’s personal diary writer has reportedly revealed.
Former friend Tina Brown told a news website that Diana would feel her son is being steered in a direction “that was not good”.
“Diana was very protective of her boys,” Tina told The Daily Beast.
“She would have been very, very protective of Harry and I believe very anxious about this direction they’ve taken.”
She said Diana would not have been “the great fan of Meghan that Meghan herself might perhaps imagine.”
Brown did, however, say Diana would have been “thrilled” that her son was happy.
August 31 marked 25 years since the princess’s death following a car crash in Paris in 1997.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently live in an £11 million home in California, alongside all-star neighbours Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise and Ellen Degeneres.
But the couple will return to the UK next month for the first time since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
They will visit Manchester for the One Young World Summit on September 5, an event which brings together young leaders from more than 190 countries.
Meghan is a counsellor for the organisation and will give the keynote address at the opening ceremony.
