A TOWN’S football club has had a new 3G pitch installed in time for the new season.
The state-of-the-art pitch was completed at Newhaven FC’s Fort Road ground, with the project paid for from the government’s levelling-up funding to regenerate parts of the town.
Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, performed the ribbon cutting to officially open the ground.
She said: “I was really pleased to be able to officially open Newhaven FC’s new 3G pitch, which has been funded by the government’s £19.3 million Newhaven Town Deal.
“This is one of the first projects to be completed using funding secured from the government and will really make a difference to both the football club and the wider community.
“I hope that over the coming months, as more of the levelling-up projects across Newhaven are finished, we can have more opportunities to celebrate the ongoing regeneration of Newhaven.”

The club, run by volunteers, organises a range of events for children - including mini dockers teams every Saturday morning.
Newhaven was offered £19.3 million for revitalisation and regeneration last year as part of a £3.6 billion government fund to invest in towns across the country to “level up” the nation.
