What a great shame that Radio 1 DJ Grooverider, real name Raymond Bingham, was only given four years in jail after being caught with 2.16 grams of cannabis at Dubai airport (The Argus, February 19).
I had presumed that smuggling illegal drugs in Dubai was a capital offence. Cannabis can cause mental damage which can, and often does, lead to a life sentence of psychotic illness (The Argus, February 22) Eighty per cent of patients admitted to psychiatric hospitals are confirmed as having used illegal drugs such as cannabis. I certainly hope that Radio 1 never employs Raymond Bingham again.
