Five people have been arrested after a stolen car was used in two ram raids last night.
The police helicopter was scrambled after initial reports of a car being smashed into a petrol station in Durgates, Wadhurst, near Haywards Heath at 11.40pm.
Shortly afterwards, at 12.05am, a second attempt was made on a petrol station in Rotherfield.
In both incidents the raiders are believed to have been unsuccessful.
The helicopter crew spotted the Land Rover Discovery used in both raids as it left Rotherfield and pursued it.
The car had been stolen from Burgess Hill earlier in the evening.
Its occupants, all of whom are known to the police, then switched vehicles but were arrested in nearby Buxted by traffic police.
