I write with reference to the proposal to situate a radio base station in Portland Road, near West Hove Infant and Junior Schools.

While I recognise there is much debate as to whether these structures pose any health risks, in the absence of 100 per cent assurance of no risk, placing such a structure so close to a school is both morally and socially wrong. If there is any doubt whatsoever as to the short, medium or long-term health risks posed by such structures, situating them next to the most vulnerable people in our society - our children - can't be right.

As a mobile phone user, I understand the need for radio masts but would suggest there are better locations for them.

I wish to register my objection to this proposal. I am sure that many of the parents of children at West Hove Infant and Junior Schools feel the same way.

Our children are our future. They trust us to keep them safe.
