With regard to your comment, "Time to address the waste mountain"
(The Argus, February 26), the article made mention of the horrendous, previously reported proposal that Sussex is to be treated like a dustbin for the metropolis with five million tons of waste due to be sent from London to Sussex in the next 20 years.
Imagine if this waste is transported by thousands of lorries.
Sussex will once again be covered in smog.
What an excellent opportunity to reinstate the railway to its former role of transporting all freight with less pollution. One freightliner locomotive can, in one journey, shift the same amount of waste as 50 road and bridge-crumbling lorries.
