Firefighters were called to a city centre bank after fire broke out.
Crews from Preston Circus station were called to Barclays Bank, in North Street, Brighton, at about 6.45pm yesterday.
It is believed the small electrical blaze started in a faulty air conditioning unit.
The bank was closed at the time and re-opened as normal this morning.
