I refer to your article on Medina House and the new proposals for this historic building (The Argus, March 1). In your article you omitted quite a lot of the important history of the building.
The present owner's sole purpose seems to be to demolish the building and build yet another computer generated block of featureless flats.
I had to laugh when I read the quote from Camillon architects that the new blob would have an overhang to protect passers-by from the wind. Passers-by would be blown to France as soon as they hit Sussex Road.
For me the blame lies with the council. After being used as a hospital in the war and a ladies baths after that, it was used by diamond cutters Monnickendam. The lease then went back to the council who left it empty for five years. Like a lot of its building stock at the time the council then sold it off cheaply.
