A serial flasher has finally been jailed. Naked sunbather Richard Stofer, 63, has been repeatedly warned not to strip off in public.

He ignored the warnings and even flouted an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo).

A judge branded Stofer a "disgusting menace" and locked him up for eight months after hearing about his latest exploits.

He exposed himself to staff at the Tesco petrol station near his home in Eastbourne in April last year.

Stofer was caught relieving himself behind the petrol station's kiosk.

He made no attempt to cover himself up when staff spotted what he was doing, Hove Crown Court heard yesterday.

Jennifer Gray, prosecuting, said the female worker recognised Stofer from when he worked for the supermarket as part of their online delivery service.

Miss Gray said Stofer was wearing "extremely short" boxer shorts, a top and no trousers.

Minutes later he walked into the kiosk and exposed himself.

The incident put him in breach of a fiveyear Asbo he was given for exposing himself in the past.

Stofer, of Milton Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to two charges of flouting the Asbo.

He was once caught sunbathing in seethrough women's underwear in the shape of a heart lying with his legs wide apart.

In July 2006, police caught him lying naked in a neighbour's garden in Victoria Drive, Eastbourne, while she was out.

Stofer also spent five days in custody last year for allegedly flouting his Asbo by sunbathing naked on Hollywell beach, Eastbourne.

He denied this incident had breached his Asbo and prosecutors decided not to proceed with the case.

Richard Smith, defending, said: "This man is a pest who says he has learnt his lesson. He says he has a penchant for nude sunbathing and will keep to genuine nudist sunbathing areas in the future."

Mr Smith said Stofer is engaged to a Russian woman who he plans to marry later this year and start a family.

Judge Cedric Joseph told Stofer: "You are a pest and a thorough nuisance and what you did was quite deliberate.

"It was disgusting and unacceptable behaviour to expose yourself in this way. It is far from the first time you have done this.

"Your barrister says you have learnt your lesson but I don't believe that at all.

"The only way you are going to learn your lesson is if you serve a prison sentence."

He said as he arrived at court yesterday: "I am going to have to think hard about sunbathing in the nude in future.

"I think there was a bit of bad feeling at Tesco from when I used to work there and that is why I am here today."
