A DRIVER had a miraculous escape after a horrific crash in which a van was destroyed.

Emergency services were called after a van crashed into a wall in Selsey Road near Chichester just after midnight this morning.

The van was torn apart in the crash, with the passenger side of the vehicle suffering severe damage.

A wheel was ripped off the van, with a door and the front portion of the van left mangled.

However, despite the horrific damage to the vehicle, a police spokesman confirmed that the driver was treated for only minor injuries.

The spokesman said: "Police responded to a report of a collision between a van and a wall in Selsey Road, near Chichester, just after midnight on Thursday, September 8.

"No other vehicles were involved and the driver of the van was treated for minor injuries.

"The road was closed whilst the van was recovered. It has since re-opened."
