ACROSS the county people have been offering their condolences in the wake of the death of the Queen. 

Councils have opened official books, both online and in person, for people to pay their respects. 

Areas have also been designated for people to lay flowers for Her Majesty. 

Here is a full list of the councils' locations across the county: 

East Sussex 

  • Brighton and Hove City Council

There are books of condolences available at all three town halls: Brighton, Hove and Portslade.

They are available to sign Monday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

  • Lewes District Council 

A book of condolence has been opened at Southover House reception in Lewes and will remain open until the day after the funeral.

  • Eastbourne Borough Council

A book of condolence has been opened at the Town Hall reception in Eastbourne and will remain open until the day after the funeral.

Flowers can be laid at the front of the Town Hall in the marked area.

  • Hastings Borough Council 

A book of condolence has been opened at the reception at Muriel Matters House. This will be open until 4.30pm today (September 9) and from 10am to 4pm tomorrow (September 10).

Flowers can be left at the war memorial in Alexandra Park. The council has asked people to please remove all plastic before they are left. Flowers that are left elsewhere will be carefully removed and taken to the war memorial where possible.

  • Wealden District Council 

A book of condolence has been set up in the reception area of the Wealden District Council offices in Hailsham, and is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday until 5pm on Tuesday, September 20. 

The book of condolence will also be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday (September 10).

Members of the public may lay flowers at the dedicated locations around the District. In Hailsham this is at the Hailsham War Memorial.

  • Rother District Council 

A book of condolence has been opened at Bexhill Town Hall for people to leave a comment.

A designated area has been set up in the grounds of the Town Hall for people who wish to leave floral tributes. This is the grassed area to the right of the Town Hall car park.

Books of condolence are also available at Rye Town Hall and The Almonry in Battle.

West Sussex 

  • Arun District Council 

The council has asked residents to sign the Buckingham Palace online book of condolence in the first instance. Though letters and cards can be sent directly to ADC to be collected. 

Physical books of condolence will be placed at Littlehampton Civic Centre and Bognor Town Hall.

Flowers (without ribbons and cellophane) can be laid at the gardens by the fountain opposite the Littlehampton Civic Centre and at the Bognor and Arundel War Memorials.

Church services will be taking place throughout the district. St Marys Clymping and St Marys Yapton will be open all day with candles to light and a book of remembrance. Both will hold prayer services at 7pm today (September 9) and thanksgiving services on Sunday (September 11) at 6pm.

  • Crawley Borough Council 

A book of condolence will be at the Town Hall from tomorrow (September 10) from 10am to 4pm and then 9am to 4pm during the period of national mourning, excluding weekends.

Arrangements for books at other public locations will be announced shortly as well as details of an online version.

  • Adur and Worthing District Council 

The council has opened books of condolence at the Shoreham Centre and Worthing Town Hall for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

  • Horsham District Council

Books of condolence will be opened at the Council offices at Parkside (open weekdays 9am to 5pm), The Capitol (open Monday to Saturday from 1.30pm to 8pm, Sunday from 1.30pm to 5pm), Horsham Museum (open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm).

  • Chichester Borough Council 

Residents are being asked to sign the national online book of condolence, and a physical book has been opened at the East Pallant House Offices.

Those who are unable to access the online book can send a message of condolence to the Chairman's Office, Room 102, West Sussex County Council, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ.

For those who wish to lay flowers in The Queen's memory, Paradise, the green space within the Cathedral's 600 year-old Cloisters, has been set aside as a space of reflection.

  • Mid Sussex District Council 

The council has said that details on how to pay respect to the queen will be provided in due course.

However, Burgess Hill residents can leave flowers and cards at the War Memorial Garden. 

A book of condolence has also been opened at the Town Council Help Point.
