A PERSON has been hit by a train between Gatwick Airport and Haywards Heath.
Southern Rail has warned that all lines are currently closed as emergency services respond to the incident.
Trains are currently unable to run between Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath and Brighton.
Southern Rail said trains may be cancelled or diverted until 5pm today.
A Southern Rail spokesman said: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Gatwick Airport and Haywards Heath.
“All lines are currently blocked, and you are advised to delay travel where possible.
“If you are currently on-board a service that has been at a stand, please remain on-board and await further updates from our train crew.
“If you are currently travelling, please note that using an alternative route will extend journey times by up to 60 minutes.”
Southern Rail said that tickets are being accepted on local Metrobus routes as well as Brighton and Hove buses.
They are also being accepted on:
- Alternative Southern/Thameslink routes
- London Buses between London and Purley
- London Underground via any reasonable route
Rail replacement buses have been confirmed and will run from Three Bridges within the next 30 minutes.
