PEOPLE in Brighton will get the chance to enjoy Oktoberfest in the city over the next few weeks.
The Brighton Bier brewery will be celebrating the popular event at its taproom in the Bell Tower Industrial Estate and its city centre pub Brighton Bierhaus from September 17 to October 2.
The taproom will be showcasing three new German style beers from new head brewer Jaye Arbuckle, brewed especially for Oktoberfest 2022.
These include Patchwork Lederhosen (German Pale Ale), She’s An Easy Peeler (Nadorcott Sour) and Spürïöüs Ümlaüts (Helles Bock Strong Lager).
Jaye said: “German and Belgian bier are a big part of the history and inspiration behind both Brighton Bier and my own journey in this industry.
“So, having the opportunity to make three Oktoberfest worthy beers as one of my first projects as Brighton Bier’s new brewer has been brilliant and I can’t wait to have a good old knees up and see what everyone thinks. Lederhosen encouraged, but not required.”
Eight beers on draught from Brighton Bier will also be available to try, as well as a range of guest German beers for Oktoberfest, along with wine, cider, fizz, gluten free and no-alcohol options.
The brewery is open Thursday to Friday from 5pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 1pm.
Just up the road at the Pavilion in Edward Street, the Brighton Bierhaus is also celebrating Oktoberfest with “the biggest range of German beers in the city”.
Manager Ben Menzies said: “With six specially Oktoberfest beers pouring through the festival and over ten German beers on the bar, plus 20 more in the fridges there is nowhere like the Bierhaus in Brighton to try the best German beers in the world.”
The Bierhaus is giving away free Oktoberfest hats with every stein ordered, and on Saturday, September 17, and Saturday, October 1, it will be one of the few bars in the UK tapping kegs of the special Paulaner Oktoberfest Unfiltered Marzen directly on the bar, the beer traditionally served in Munich at the festival.
